Who Should Attend This Event?

The 2017 Calgary Data Management Symposium, Tradeshow & Annual General Meeting is a two-day event featuring plenary presentations, a keynote speaker, interactive discussions, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities. Taking place this year October 23-25, 2017, at the Telus Spark Science Centre near downtown Calgary, this annual event is attended by a variety of organizations and attendees from Analysts to CEOs. Our attendees enjoy opportunities to stay current with what's new in both data management and oil and gas industry, connect with their peers, learn about professional development opportunities, reach potential clients, and more. Agenda & Schedule

The Theme for this Symposium is "Moving Beyond Now: Looking Back to Look Forward". This year, we are also pleased to have Rich McAvey from Gartner as our Keynote Speaker on October 24, 2017. We are currently accepting abstracts for this event until Friday, June 16, 2017. To submit your abstract please visit our Abstract Submission Page. Please note that speakers will be given a 50% discount off the full conference registration fee (Exclusions may apply). Speakers from Operating Companies are also eligible for a complimentary registration, please contact for more information. Confirmed speakers must register a minimum of 1 month ahead of the event or risk loosing their speaking spot.

The Calgary Data Management Symposium, Tradeshow & AGM will once again be returning to the Telus Spark Science Centre, located at 220 St. George's Drive NE,Calgary, AB, T2E 5T2.  More information about the Telus Spark is available on their website:

Room Block

A small room block has been set up at the Sandman Hotel, located right on the C-Train tracks to easily accessible to the venue. The room block rate is $129/night plus taxes and this rate is available until October 1, 2017. The hotel is located at 888 7th Avenue SW, Calgary, Alberta. You can book your rooms directly by calling 1-800-SANDMAN or by email and quoting group number 829885.

Transportation & Parking

Free Parking will be available at the Telus Spark during the Symposium. The Calgary Transit train (Saddletowne Train) can also be taken at a low cost to the 'Zoo' station, which is about a 10 minute walk from the facility - please note that payment will be required to travel to the Zoo Station of approximately $3.25 each way. A Calgary Transit Map can be found at this link, and you can visit to find the schedules and plan your trip.  Due to low usage in previous years, no shuttle will be organized for 2017.

Prices are subject to 5% GST. Individual memberships are only $100 to sign up now to save.  Discounts are available for groups of 5 or more individuals. Other discounts such as student, speaker or sponsorship codes may apply. When multiple discounts are available, only the highest discount rate will apply. Virtual Attendance

For those unable to attend the conference in person, a virtual Webex will be arranged for the Symposium Presentations. These webex will include the slides and audio live during the Symposium itself. The option to register virtually is in the registration portion below, and the access information will be distributed once registration and payment are received. Virtual Attendees will need to have a computer with internet access (hard wired internet is recommended over wifi), speakers and a microphone is recommended. To test if your system will work with the Webex, please contact the events team. A minimum of six (6) virtual attendees must register in order for this option to proceed.

Networking Opportunities

Beyond the networking opportunities during meals and breaks, this year the Symposium programming will include two networking receptions.

The Welcome Reception will be an informal reception will give attendees a chance to catch up with each other in a more relaxed environment before the sessions begin on October 23. This year, the Welcome Reception will take place in the 3rd floor Atrium of the Hyatt Regency, with the Catch Restaurant providing the catering - located at 100-8th Avenue SE. The Reception will take place between 5:00 and 7:00pm.  We are currently looking for sponsor(s) for this Reception, please contact if you are interested in more information.

This year PPDM will continue the annual Tradeshow Reception at the Telus Spark on October 24, which gives attendees a chanc to meet with the exhibitors and enjoy some social time with each other following the day of sessions and AGM.
