Data & Data Professionals in a Sustainable Energy Future
The energy sector is undergoing rapid, sometimes disorienting transformation. Disruptive technologies, regulatory shifts, and environmental imperatives are reshaping how we operate, not only as organisations, but as individuals making material decisions in real time.
In just a few years, whole new options, concerns and responsibilities have emerged:
- AI tools such as large language models
- Autonomous operations and remotely managed assets
- Carbon accounting, offsetting, and sequestration
- Long-term environmental monitoring and compliance
- Decommissioning obligations planned from day one
- Cybersecurity, privacy, and data stewardship
- The erosion of institutional knowledge through outsourcing and retirements
and more.
These changes play out against the backdrop of the Energy Trilemma: the enduring challenge of balancing affordability, reliability, and environmental sustainability.
At the same time, individuals across the industry are being asked to do more with less, move faster with less certainty, and adapt to systems and expectations that didn’t exist five years ago.
- How are organisations navigating the trade-offs of the Energy Trilemma in real-world operations?
- What role is data playing in enabling better, faster, more accountable decisions – and how?
- How can data be used to mitigate unanticipated risks, and capture new or overlooked opportunities?
This workshop brings together engineers, data professionals, decision-makers and solution producers to exchange ideas, share experience and discuss emerging strategies. Please join us to explore how we, as an industry and as individuals, can rise to the challenges ahead.
Please plan to participate in this event. Submit an abstract for consideration to present at this workshop. Contact Peter at pgoyne1@optusnet.com.au or Antonie at antonie.dutoit@antsgeoconsulting.com.au from the PPDM Australia Leadership Team to discuss.
