Ben Moretti, Manager, Insights and Data with CapGemini
will present a talk entitled
"Automated Document Processing using Machine Learning models, containers and web services: A case study from the public sector."
Document management has historically been a manually intensive task, especially with regards to classification and capture of data into enterprise systems, and this processing load has increased exponentially with the introduction of online document management systems. In recent years we have seen the availability of new approaches in Machine Learning and Computer Vision, which have allowed for automated document classification and data extraction to provide a solution to these document processing loads. Here, we present a case study taken from a project undertaken for a major Australian Commonwealth Government Agency, for the development of an end-to-end automated document classification and entity capture solution, which processes thousands of documents daily. Topics covered include: deep learning for entity recognition and extraction, containerisation and private cloud deployment, machine learning for natural language processing, enterprise integration with web services, and the use of computer vision. We also present examples of working remotely during a pandemic, multi-agency teams and deployment of code. The presentation concludes with a summary of learnings for the E & P sector and areas of knowledge transfer.
