Monte Wilson, Corporate BI
will present a talk entitled
"Self Service Business Intelligence Tools and the Opportunities They Offer the Oil Industry"

In the last ten years businesses have benefited tremendously from the insights and efficiency gains in-house business intelligence tools offer. Oil industry data professionals are well placed to assume the role of BI developers. Traditionally data analyses have been delivered through MS Excel or extremely expensive bespoke products. Neither have the flexibility, cost, or power of modern business intelligence software. It is now possible to create production dashboards, field production reports and artificial intelligence analyses in-house using inexpensive tools and procedures.

Monte Wilson was a Petroleum Engineering Data Analyst for Oil Search for seven years. He is now a BI consultant in E&P and in Govt. and public data and founder of CorporateBI. He will discuss his experience in deploying this emerging technology in a mid-cap O&G firm and demonstrate the ease with which a production dashboard can be created.  In addition he will detail, based on his own experience, the risks O&G employers face in not recognising data professionals as a distinct discipline and the highly transferable skills they possess and their desirability to employers in other sectors.

A flyer for this event is available.
