Keynotes

Short Biography: Curley leads data governance for subsurface data at Chevron. He was previously the Manager of Enterprise Data Performance, reporting to the Chief Data officer at Chevron where he was responsible for data governance across the Chevron enterprise which also includes data quality and enterprise data metrics.  Curley joined Chevron in 2013 in the Gulf of Mexico business unit and has held positions in Drilling operations, Production operations and Upstream Data Foundations.  He has been instrumental in moving the corporation towards a more data product culture.

Curley has over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and has held multiple roles at Chevron but also previously for ExxonMobil and Hess.  He has supported offshore platforms as well as onshore production and drilling operations and grew into leadership roles based on his vast experience.  At Chevron he mentors young professionals and is very active in multiple employee networks.

Curley formerly served as a board member of PPDM and currently chairs the Certification and Business Model & Outreach workgroups in OSDU (formerly Open Subsurface Data Universe). Curley believes that data is the lifeline and the key to more informed decision making in the energy industry.  He also an alumni and an active recruiter at Howard University for Chevron.  He enjoys golf, fishing and skiing and loves a good science fiction book.

Short Biography: Luke serves as an Energy Director of Data and AI at Microsoft, where he leads a team of global “black belt” specialists in helping customers solve their toughest problems with database, analytics, and AI solutions. Luke has experience in various industries, from energy engineering to strategy consulting, and has a passion for digital transformation and innovation. In his spare time, Luke is an active volunteer and supporter of the Special Olympics and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. With her degrees, she has spent most of her career with upstream operators working as a liaison between IT and the business engaging with and advising on quality data management practices and workflows. Currently, she is the Managing Partner for Código Data Experts where she works with various operating companies as a solutions architect and subject matter expert guiding clients on how to integrate, manage, and master siloed data (structured and unstructured) within their internal ecosystem in an automated way using both classic ways of data integration as well as AI. She has a passion for quality data for the energy industry and helps clients focus on data governance and user adoption along the data management journey. Alongside her professional career in data management, Amii devotes her free time to improve data management standards and the community of data professionals in the energy industry by serving on the Board of Directors for the PPDM Association. Short Biography: Greg Foley has spent 50 years in the workforce (25 years in Australia and 25 years in the US) before retiring in July 2024. Most recently he worked at The FerVID Group which he joined in April 2017 with responsibility for Business Strategy and Development. Previously he had introduced Brisbane based startup, RedEye, to the US market.

With 32 years of market development experience applying technology to solve business problems including 25 years in Oil & Gas, he is very focused on customer satisfaction. Prior to moving to the United States in 1999 and joining Petris Technology where he spent 11 ½ years followed by 4 years at Stonebridge, he was responsible for establishing HAHT Software in South East Asia.

Mr. Foley has also worked in Australia for Fujitsu, Digital Equipment Corporation and ComputerLand. He previously taught for 12 years at St. Aloysius' College in Sydney.

Outside of work, Greg has served on the Board of the Australian American Chamber of Commerce for 21 ½ years, serving 6 as President. He has also served 2 years on the Board of the Woodland Heights Civic Association. Early in 2023, he joined the Houston Leadership Team for PPDM and contributed towards facilitating the 2023 and 2024 Conventions in Houston ands moved up the the position of Chair in 2025. He has been passionate about the importance of data quality to support decision making in all aspects of business, whether technical or corporate. He will continue to serve the PPDM beyond retirement.

Short Biography: Derek is the President of companies WellDrive and Zytron. He has 30 years of engineering and management experience in the petroleum industry, mostly with WellDrive and Schlumberger, and holds engineering and physics degrees from Georgia Tech and Jacksonville University.

Derek serves on the Houston Leadership Team for PPDM and has contributed to data-related presentations and articles by Hart Energy and the Midland Reporter Telegram. He is passionate about data and service quality, working to ensure that both structured and unstructured data maintains its history, context, and relevance.

A couple of his more interesting data management related roles outside of the oil and gas industry have involved working on the team to build the first country-wide immigration system database for the United Kingdom and building a top-secret data mining system for the UK Home Office. Neither of which he can officially confirm or deny.

Short Biography: With over 18 years at Chevron, and currently acting as the Enterprise Data Performance Manager, Allison is driving data governance maturity across functions and business units, including adoption of an enterprise data quality program. She also championed a 3-year project focusing on a skills-based talent intelligence ecosystem, modernizing strategic workforce planning tools and processes as the Future of Work Lead, People Analytics.

Allison was key in leading the BU and Analytics team through the San Joaquin Valley Business Unit data and analytics work. She held multiple roles across the 6-year initiative including business intelligence, information management, decision analysis, and production operations project delivery. In addition, Allison held a central enterprise IT role under the Upstream IT Portfolio Analyst & IT Service Management umbrella. Her work across this 3-year appointment focused on portfolio governance, maturing decision analysis skills, and global adoption of IT service management.

Short Biography: Amii has made a career in managing data for the Upstream Energy Industry for the last 22+ years. She has an undergrad in Business from Lamar University, a Master of Science in Database Administration and Design from Denver University, and is currently working on another master’s degree in artificial intelligence for business. With her degrees, she has spent most of her career with upstream operators working as a liaison between IT and the business engaging with and advising on quality data management practices and workflows. Currently, she is the Managing Partner for Código Data Experts where she works with various operating companies as a solutions architect and subject matter expert guiding clients on how to integrate, manage, and master siloed data (structured and unstructured) within their internal ecosystem in an automated way using both classic ways of data integration as well as AI. She has a passion for quality data for the energy industry and helps clients focus on data governance and user adoption along the data management journey. Alongside her professional career in data management, Amii devotes her free time to improve data management standards and the community of data professionals in the energy industry by serving on the Board of Directors for the PPDM Association. She has also been published several times on different data management works.

Short Biography: Judson Jacobs is a managing director with S&P Global in its Energy division. In this role he leads the company’s energy strategies and transformation group, bringing together company strategies, innovation approaches, and regulatory and policy perspectives to deliver insights into the current state of the industry and future directions. Recent research includes the role of AI in enabling and accelerating the energy transition, the emergence of commercial models for carbon management, and finding the balance between oil & gas and new energy. Prior to joining S&P Global, Mr. Jacobs worked as a management consultant with the Mitchell Madison Group and held senior engineering positions with Schlumberger and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. He earned a BSE from Princeton University and an MS in Geology from Stanford University.

Short Biography: Lewis Matthews was born and raised in the United Kingdom of Great Britain. At the age of 17 he emigrated to the USA and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 9 years as a Corpsman with Marines. Since then, Lewis has received several degrees including economics, geology, and an MS in geophysics and seismology during which he independently discovered fractal clustering in petrophysical logs. He is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Angel Protection System and Project Geminae. To encourage understanding and broad collaboration across companies, Lewis teaches machine learning applications and advanced data analytics applicable to oil and gas problems. These workshops have proven to be incredibly popular and helpful to enhance the general understanding of the strengths and limits of these incredibly hyped technologies.

Short Biography: Luke serves as an Energy Director of Data and AI at Microsoft, where he leads a team of global “black belt” specialists in helping customers solve their toughest problems with database, analytics, and AI solutions. Luke has experience in various industries, from energy engineering to strategy consulting, and has a passion for digital transformation and innovation. In his spare time, Luke is an active volunteer and supporter of the Special Olympics and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Luke is a frequent speaker and content creator on topics such as Operational Databases, Agentic Architectures, Power BI, and Azure OpenAI.

TECHNICAL WORKSHOPS - APRIL 28, 2025

Seismic Project Overview: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM - CST (Central Standard Time)
Seismic data is one of earth sciences' most malleable data types. From planning through acquisition, processing, interpretation and brokerage, seismic data is organized, reorganized, divided, combined, renamed, recalculated, reprocessed, reinterpreted and distributed countless times. The result is often chaotic data systems that are rife with duplication, ambiguity and confusion.

In this workshop, people who understand seismic data management will discuss PPDM’s plans related to the development of standardized best practices and recommendations for seismic data. This task requires a good understanding of seismic data management. We want to hear from data-driven professionals, who can contribute to the creation of best practices for making the industry more efficient through access to consistent, trusted seismic data. Note that the work done in this project will be entirely technology neutral.

Members of the PPDM “What is Seismic” workgroup have created draft deliverables for Phase 1 of the project. This material will be reviewed and discussed. Approaches to next project phases will be considered and plans for the next year of work recommended.

PPDM and AI: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM - CST (Central Standard Time)
The PPDM Data Model, Data Objects, Data Rules Library, Reference List and Semantic standards encompass a body of knowledge that has been developed by industry experts from around the world and across most energy centric business domains. In this workgroup we will explore opportunities to leverage this work in emerging technologies such as AI.

Banff Protocol: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM - CST (Central Standard Time)
This workshop will review the plan laid out in the project charter, gather information from participants and discuss approaches for development. Note that the work done in this project will be entirely technology neutral. We welcome those involved in preparing, using or understanding emissions reporting to partners, regulators, financial institutions and other stakeholders.

The content, context, meaning and derivation of data must be transparent and trusted at all levels, from corporate head office to advanced technical systems. In a world of diverse regulatory, industry and social expectations this is almost impossible to achieve, but the need is clear: To become more emissions efficient, we must become more data efficient!

As the Banff Protocol vision expands, PPDM members will take a realistic look at how this project can be approached to add substantive and immediate business value to participants as the full scope is realized over a period of years.

Mature Assets: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM - CST (Central Standard Time)
PPDM’S End of Life Taxonomy will be the first data centric toolset to provide a comprehensive assessment of end-of-life oil and gas assets. Designed to support government regulators, the energy industry, and other stakeholders in complex asset decision making, the Scorecard is a globally standardized solution to understanding and prioritizing an accelerating challenge estimated to require almost US $900 billion in funding.
