• The theme of this event is "Energy Data Management - Embracing the Future" - As countries move to increase the proportion of their energy needs met by renewable and new energy sources, there are emergent data challenges. These will be solved by experienced and newly qualified data professionals working together and applying a combination of proven best practice, analytics tools, technology and emerging standards/processes. The PPDM Association's 2022 Perth Energy Data Workshop embraces this future and features presentations and hands-on sessions to equip participants with knowledge and skills they will need to address the challenges of Energy Data Management head-on.The deadline to submit an abstract for this event was May 31, 2022. Accepted speakers will receive a 50% discount to speak at this event. Abstracts can be submitted via our Abstract Submissions Website.

Field Trip

• This year's Workshop includes a half day Field Trip on August 17 to the Pawsey Supercomputer, along with a presentation. A light Happy Hour will follow the field trip. A shuttle bus is not planned for this year, attendees are asked to meet at Pawsey - 1 Bryce Avenue, Kensington WA 6151 at 1:45pm, free parking is available across the street and nearby.
• Tour Description: When Australian government agencies need to make decisions to respond to a crisis like the bushfires or COVID-19, they draw on decades of Australian and international research backed by high-performance computing and data infrastructure. Pawsey is a critical piece of Australian digital research infrastructure. In your visit, you’ll hear from Pawsey’s Executive Director, Mark Stickells, as well as from a number of Executives from Pawsey’s Leadership Team. We’ll include a discussion about PaCER, a flagship program at Pawsey, focusing specifically on PaCER projects of interest to PPDM members. We’ll lead you on a virtual “data tour” of the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre and introduce you to our new star attractions: Setonix, Acacia & our Visualisation Lab.
• There will be an informal happy hour at the Como Hotel after the Field Trip for those interested. This will be a self-funded happy hour.

• The 2022 Perth Energy Data Workshop will be taking place the DMIRS building at 1 Adelaide Terrace. Thank you to DMIRS for hosting us. Please note that there is limited space available for this event, so register early to save your spot.

• There is not a room block set up for this event. If you would like hotel recommendations, please contact the PPDM Association team.

• The Workshop will include an informal Happy Hour following the day's sessions on August 18, 2022, at Eastside Social Restaurant & Bar (situation on the mezzanine level of the Ibis Styles East Perth Hotel) - 69 Adelaide Terrace (corner of Plain Street & Adelaide Terrace), East Perth, Western Australia 6004. This happy hour will be self-funded if it is not sponsored.

• NEW! The first two hours of this event will be available virtually, from 9:00am-11:00 am for a nominal fee of $15 USD for members and $30 USD for non-members. This virtual event will take place on our Remo Platform and the instructions to access will be sent the day before the event.

• For those travelling from outside of Australia, please review the eligibility requirements with the Government of Australia. If you require a letter of introduction to attend, please email events@ppdm.org with your contact information.
