Managing Principal at the DBP-Institute (Data for Business Performance)
will be giving a talk entitled
"Effective Data Engineering for Data Science (Analytics)"
Abstract: Business enterprises need insights to be successful in the marketplace. Given the tremendous amount of data, businesses can capture and process these days, companies are increasingly looking at data for deriving business insights. Data Science, which is the processes where Data Scientists analyze data and derive insights (Descriptive and Inferential) from the data supplied by Data Engineers is complex and takes lot of time and effort. In this backdrop, the proposed talk from Dr. Prashanth Southekal carves out 3 key topics from his latest book – Data for Business Performance. 1. The first part of the talk is on defining and understanding why Data Engineering is the foundation for Data Science. 2. The second part of the presentation will list out the key elements for effective Data Engineering. 3. The third part will cover a real world case study.
Biography: Dr. Prashanth H Southekal is the Managing Principal of DBP-Institute (www.dbp-institute.com), a data monetization firm which monetizes business data for insights, compliance, and customer service. He brings over 20 years of Data and Information Management experience consulting/working for companies such as SAP AG, Shell, Apple, P&G, and General Electric in North America, Asia and Europe. He has presented scholarly works in IEEE journals and conferences on Data and Information Management. Dr. Southekal has published three books on Information Management including the most recent "Data for Business Performance".

This luncheon will take place at Bow Valley Square Conference Centre, 205 - 5th Avenue SW, Calgary, Alberta T2P 2V7.
Registration will take place from 11:15 to 11:30 outside
the meeting room. Lunch will be served at 11:30. If you
have any food allergies please let us know during the
registration process. If you find you are no longer able to
attend, please advise us of your cancellation as soon as
possible to free up a space for another attendee.

New for events after August 1, 2016, PPDM is introducing a non-member
rate to attend Data Management Luncheons. This new charge of $25
is to help cover the costs associated with creating,
running and maintaining our community events, not for the
venue, food and beverage as they're generously sponsored.
Memberships can be purchased for only $100, and if you
decide to join PPDM within 10 business days of a luncheon,
we will apply the cost for the luncheon to your membership.

registering for the luncheon in order to get the complimentary rate. NOTE: If you are an
