David Willis, Pioneer Data Governance Specialist, DMO
will present a talk entitled
"Governing Through The Downturn"
There is an old saying, “If you can’t name it, you can’t manage it.” That statement could be taken a step further to say, “If you can’t define it, you can’t govern it.” What is governance though? The word govern comes from the Latin word gubernare which means to steer or to rule. For oil and gas companies and their data, this is needed now more than ever. How will companies steer themselves through the downturn and come out on the other side stronger than before? Through the implementation of solid Data Management and Data Governance practices, the oil patch has one of the most diverse and complex data sets of any industry. The need for solid master data and well defined sources of truth along with specified decision rights and a framework for accountability is undeniable. In this session you will learn how Pioneer Natural Resources is addressing these issues and some of the lessons that are being learned along the way.

running and maintaining our community events, not for the
venue, food and beverage as they're generously sponsored.
Memberships can be purchased for only $100, and if you
decide to join PPDM within 10 business days of a luncheon,
we will apply the cost for the luncheon to your membership.
Please contact Member
Services to get your credit. Should you decide to purchase your membership prior to registering,
please purchase your membership as a separate transaction prior to
registering for the luncheon in order to get the complimentary rate. NOTE: If you are an
