Professionals working in petroleum Data Management. This includes regulators, operators, service companies, data and software vendors, schools (educators, students). Typical roles include Business Analysts, Data Governance Specialists, Data Architects, Data Management Leaders, Data Managers, and Data Analysts.
Course Description:
Reference Lists will introduce you to data objects, defining reference lists, how reference lists help make data more useful, sample reference lists across multiple global regions, complex reference lists (e.g. “Business Associates”, reference value governance and processes/creating reference lists, explicit or abstract reference lists, governance workflows and null data.
Learning Outcomes:
- Discuss data objects and describe a data object framework
- Define reference lists and explain what they do
- List ways reference lists help make data more useful
- Describe components of a ‘simple reference list’
- Give examples of business associates and the types of data that may be important to them
- Discuss the importance of data governance and map out a sample workflow for a new reference list
- Describe the two primary hierarchy types and the general principles related to hierarchy content
- Discuss data governance rules for handling null data

Final Exam - Students must achieve 70% or higher on the exam to obtain a completion award.
