Target Audience:
This class is targeting individuals who are interested in learning the basics of Units of Measure and the relationship between measured data, units of measure and business processes.

Course Description:
This comprehensive introductory course navigates you through why units of measure matter, how units of measure can be confusing, the purpose of measurements, the basics, and systems of units of measure including seven (7) base SI units, variations, data rules, data container considerations, unit conversions, and special cases.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Describe the complexities of implementing and using Units of Measure successfully
  • Discuss the relationship between measured data, units of measure, and the many business processes they support
  • Describe the Units of Measure in the PPDM associated with each of the following
    • Basic units of measure and their derivatives
    • Variability in units over time and geographically
    • Unit of measure conversions
    • Data containers and design considerations
    • Considerations for special units of measure (time and currency)

Metrics:
Concept checks throughout the course.
Final Exam - Students must achieve 70% or higher on the exam to obtain a completion award.
 
Completion Award:
PPDM Association Certificate of Completion, Badge, PDU for CPDA.
